Trash Mountain Project
Trash Mountain Project (TMP) is a ministry based in Topeka, KS with a mission to “develop Christ-centered environments for children and families living in trash dump communities worldwide.” TMP brings children and families living in trash dump communities into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ by addressing their spiritual, physical, emotional, and educational needs. They also create strategic partnerships with indigenous leaders and organizations to assess available resources and determine immediate and long-term operational needs. In addition, they use professionally filmed short and feature length documentary films to raise awareness of the worldwide dump communities by illustrating each specific community, its needs, and the area ministries. Currently, TMP does work in Honduras, the Dominican Republic, the Philippines and Cambodia.
I was blessed to spend a week this past January with Trash Mountain Project in Manila, Philippines. The pictures you see here represent a bit of what I experienced during my time last week. Our particular goal was to pastor the Filipino pastors. During my time there, I was affirmed by God as to the importance of teaching the Filipino pastors. Every pastor I met appeared in every way to be a Godly person. They are devoted to God and to the people that God has placed under their care. Their motives are clearly pure, as the people who pastor in the trash dump communities have nothing of this world to gain. Their service to the people is purely out of devotion to God. I was blessed to spend the week with them.
