A New Phase in Ministry

TMP Logo 1Recently, I transitioned from leading an amazing church in Salina, Kansas into a new phase in my life and ministry. This new phase allows me to serve God in two distinct ways. The majority of my efforts are given to teaching Bible and ministry at Manhattan Christian College. While my primary ministry will be working with MCC, I am also serving Trash Mountain Project as Disciple Director. I am so excited about the eternal potential of this ministry with TMP! The time that I have spent serving with TMP as a volunteer has been life changing. My encounters in the trash dump communities have deeply impacted me as I have experienced poverty and hopelessness at a level that I had never seen before. But beyond that, I see within TMP a viable Christ-like model with eternal impact. My role will allow me to work with pastors and other leaders in trash dump communities worldwide. I will oversee the spiritual growth of these leaders with the goal that they will become even better leaders in their communities. My role is a combination of four international trips each year to disciple these pastors, as well as working, throughout the year developing materials and coordinating pastoral coaches to support these pastors.

Trash Mountain Project: Listed below is an excerpt from Trash Mountain Project’s website.

  • Trash Mountain Project exists to develop Christ-centered environments for children and families living in trash dump communities worldwide.
  • WHO WE ARE
Established in 2009, Trash Mountain Project (TMP) is a U.S.-based non-profit organization that works internationally in developing countries and partners with local churches, individuals and organizations to bring sustainable change in communities that surround and/or depend on a landfill to live.
  • WHAT IS A TRASH DUMP COMMUNITY?
This is a community where many of the people make their livelihoods working each day at the landfill searching for recyclables and even food. Many times it is not only the parents that work but their children as well. These areas are severely poor, crime is high and they lack the most basic necessities including clean water and sanitation.
  • WHAT WE DO
We work stateside developing strategies and obtaining funding to assist our on-the-ground partners. When the funding is available, our local partners carry out our combined plans in these communities in areas including, nutrition, discipleship, education and more.

My salary with Trash Mountain Project is supported through self-funding, which means while I have a salary through TMP, I am responsible to fund this salary through financial support that I raise. I am seeking to raise a salary of $1500 per month. Would you consider taking part in this effort? If you are interested in supporting me, setting up monthly donations is easy through this link: https://trashmountain.com/dave.

While this post’s primary purpose is to ask for your financial support, I want to ask you to continue praying for me, my family and Trash Mountain Project. TMP was birthed as an answer to prayer by many people and for many people. Please join that effort of prayer to bring change in this world for God’s kingdom.

God will be glorified and people will be blessed by your faithfulness to His calling. To step out of the boat and into the waters of the unfamiliar is a step of faith. As you keep your eyes on Jesus and walk those waters He will be glorified. Those you touch with your knowledge, compassion and gentleness will be blessed. My prayer is for blessings beyond your wildest imagination. Thank you for touching my life. Thank you for being an obedient servant and an excellent example.
